British Overseas Territories

British Overseas Territories, formerly known as British Dependent Territories or Crown Colonies, are directly under the sovereignty of the United Kingdom. These territories are not independent nations. As of 2023, the following territories are considered British Overseas Territories:

The Commonwealth of Nations


The Commonwealth of Nations is a voluntary association of 56 independent and equal sovereign states. The majority are former territories of the British Empire. While they recognize the British monarch as the symbolic head of the Commonwealth, this does not imply any political or economic control. The Commonwealth promotes cooperation and understanding among its members.
